Our Troop is a Scouts BSA Linked Troop
Most boys and girls avoid obstacles. Scouts seek them. They live for any opportunity to display their abilities while learning new skills. Camping is fun. Surviving a downpour in the middle of the night is an adventure. Cooking over a campfire is fun. Learning which wild berries are edible is survival. Spending a weekend in the woods is fun. Breaking camp without leaving a trace is admirable. These are invaluable experiences that can be had in Scouting. These are life lessons that transform today’s youth into tomorrow’s leaders. Scouts BSA. Be Prepared — for anything.
Our Troop is part of the Black Warrior Council of the BSA
The Black Warrior Council (BWC) is a local council of the Boy Scouts of America that serves the West Alabama area. As a council, the BWC is sub-divided into three districts. The Council has helped over one million young people become “Prepared. For Life.” since its inception in the 1920s.
Our Troop is chartered by Forest Lake United Methodist Church
Forest Lake has been involved in and supportive of scouting for many years. We are so blessed to have Forest Lake as our Chartering Organization. Forest Lake seeks to be a safe harbor in an uncertain world, welcoming all with open arms. We celebrate our differences and encourage questions and searching, while striving for unity within the church, community, and the world. We take seriously the charge to love one another as ourselves through service and striving for social justice.
Troop 316 is composed of two linked troops. We have a boys troop and a girls troop. The troops provide independent leadership opportunities for the members, while creating a family friendly situation.
